150th. Anniversary ~ July 24th.- 26th., 2015

The Planning Committee for the 150th. Anniversary celebration is in the process of finalizing plans for this special milestone in our parish. It was in June of 1865 that Bishop Colin Francis MacKinnon appointed Rev. Kenneth Joseph MacDonald as first pastor of St. Peter’s Parish, Port Hood. For the people of Port Hood and area, the establishment of St. Peter’s Parish was a testament to their devotion and commitment to the Roman Catholic teachings. Today, we continue this dedication which began in 1865. We need to remember how we have grown as a parish and to be reminded of all that our generations past have done to ensure that our faith and belief in God is of upmost priority in all that we do. The Planning Committee will begin advertising its program of activities by the lst week of August of this year ,and we hope for a positive response to early registration. It is important that we know how many people will attend. This will also allow former parishioners to plan their vacation for this event. The registration fee per person is $35.00 with no charge for children under 12. A family rate is set at $100.00 which includes parents and children over 13 and under the age of 18. The purpose of the registration fee is to offset extraordinary costs associated with the event and includes a social to be held following Mass on Friday evening, July 24,2015. Tickets will be available for purchase for other catered meals, i.e. lunch on Saturday, banquet on Saturday, and a brunch to be held following the Anniversary Mass to be held on Sunday, July 26th. Sunday mass will be concelebrated by Bishop Brian Dunn, Fr. Vincent VanZutphen , former priests who have served our parish, and native sons who have been ordained to the priesthood. So plan now to come celebrate with us on the weekend of July 24th. to 26th., 2015 and please be encouraged to register early.
